Imaginarium Atelier’s Cabinet of Curiosities
Opening Print 2026 – First Studio Release.
This print celebrates the opening of a space that truly feels like home for Imaginarium Atelier, combining studio, shop front and gallery, opening in Spring 2026 in Machynlleth, Mid Wales.
The design is closely tied to the spirit of Imaginarium Atelier, a gathering of objects, symbols and quiet details that reflect our world of making.
The original painting began with a soft wash of walnut ink, an earthy pigment that deepens and shifts as it dries. I’ve always loved watching it settle into the paper; it feels ancient, grounding, and perfectly suited to this project. Over this warm, textured ground, the cabinet gradually began to fill. Working intuitively, I added each small square as a fragment, imagined, remembered, or real, allowing the composition to unfold naturally, each element appearing in its own time. A quiet game of patience, letting go of overthinking and trusting the process.
There is something deeply satisfying about working at this scale. It asks you to slow down, to come close, to really look. After fifteen years in the city, we moved to the rural edge of Snowdonia in January 2025, and we’ve been deeply inspired by the new surroundings ever since. Each tiny window holds a detail gathered during our first six months in Mid Wales, a moment, a place, a feeling. Over time, the painting became a quiet time capsule, small objects stitched together by curiosity rather than intention.
This is a fine art giclée print, produced with fade-resistant archival inks on Etching Cotton Rag 315gsm paper. Measuring A4 (21 × 29.7 cm / 8.3 × 11.7 in), the print has a heavy, softly textured surface that echoes the character of the original gouache and walnut ink painting. Printed at the same size as the original artwork, it retains the intimacy and scale of the first piece.
