Hand-Painted Display Box for Articulated Doll Pendant
Like something plucked from a dream or a forgotten tale, this tiny doll case is a playful nod to childhood relics and storybook wonders.
This one-of-a-kind display case began life as a repurposed wooden box, discovered in an antique shop and transformed into a miniature Cabinet of Curiosities. Hand-painted with acrylic and embellished with delicate gold leaf, it’s been reimagined as a vibrant stage inspired by Autumn.
At the centre, a recess holds the articulated doll pendant, suspended from a ring atop her mushroom hat. The pendant is secured via the chain, which threads through the interior of the box and exits through a discreet hole at the top—keeping the piece perfectly in place while on display. The necklace is fully removable and wearable whenever you choose.
A lift-off wooden cover is included to protect the entire composition.
The pendant is handcrafted in sterling silver, the different elements were first carved in wax, a slow, meditative process we love... She wears a charming mushroom hat, and her dress is inlaid with abalone shell, its surface catching the light in shifting hues.
Her arms and legs articulated, allowing for gentle movement that adds life and a touch of magic. Finished with delicate 24k gold details using Keum-Boo, a traditional Korean gilding technique.
